Job Seekers

EI Part II programs and services, provided through the Employment and Labour Market Services Branch at the Ministry of Housing and Social Development, have been established to assist eligible job seekers to reach their career goals, by providing training to upgrade skills, offering valuable work experience or lending support and expertise for starting a business. Services provided may also include wage subsidies, which encourage employers to provide work experience opportunities or create jobs for eligible individuals.

For Job Seekers, programs & services include Skills Development, Targeted Wage Subsidies, Self Employment, Job Creation Partnerships and Employment Assistance Services.

Employment Assistance Services Offices that provide help to unemployed individuals by preparing them for, obtaining and maintaining employment.	Job Bank The Job Bank is a user friendly job search tool that can help connect British Columbians with great employment opportunities.
Skills Development An employment program that provides financial assistance to eligible individuals to help them obtain the skills training they need to re-enter the labour market.	Targeted Wage Subsidies Helps individuals who are experiencing difficulty finding work, by providing temporary wage subsidies to assist employers to hire them. Normally, the subsidy will lead to permanent employment.
Self Employment An employment program that provides financial assistance and entrepreneurial support to eligible individuals while they develop and implement their business plan.	Job Creation Partnerships Support projects that provide eligible individuals with meaningful work experience to help them obtain on-going employment.
