Targeted Wage Subsidies
for Employers
Targeted Wage Subsidies is an employment program that provides employers with financial assistance towards wages of eligible individuals whom they hire. The program encourages employers to hire eligible individuals whom they would not normally hire in the absence of a subsidy.
Program Objective
Targeted Wage Subsidies help individuals who face “barriers to employment/are experiencing difficulty finding work”, by enhancing their skills and improving their employability, through the temporary wage subsidies provided to the employers that hire them.
Eligibility Information
Who can apply?
The following organizations are eligible to provide work experience and receive funding as sponsors through this program:
- Businesses
- Non-profit organizations
- Crown corporations
- Municipalities or provincial/territorial governments
- First Nations councils
- Public health and educational institutions
What are the financial benefits?
The quality of the work experience and other factors will be considered in determining the wage subsidy.
