A Message from the Assistant Deputy Ministers

Welcome to the Ministry of Employment and Income Assistance Labour Market Development Agreement website.

Over the past month we have been working diligently to hire the team that will assist us in the seamless transition of services to the provincial government. We are pleased to announce that we now have our management team on board and are working to fill the rest of the vacancies. Please continue to watch this site for further job postings.

The LMSTO management team recently began touring the province to meet with colleagues at Service Canada offices in order to solicit information regarding their programs and services and to begin to get to know their staff. We will continue to find opportunities to engage with Ministry of Employment and Income Assistance staff, Service Canada staff, service providers and other members of the community as we work towards implementing the LMDA on February 2, 2009.

Also, an LMDA Transition Committee has been formed and will remain in place to the transfer date of February 2nd, 2009. The Transition Committee will play a critical role in guiding smooth transition of programs to provincial jurisdiction. You will see that we have posted the names of members of the Transition Committee along with Transition Committee Status Updates, which will keep you up-to-date on the work of the Committee.

In the coming months we will continue to update this site, so that you can stay informed. We also highly encourage you to sign up for our mailing list so that you can receive updates as they come available.
